YSL Touche eclat Foundation + Review

I know i've been MIA for almost 3 months now, but unfortunately this year has been so tough on me that my blog had to take a back seat!

But, i am back now, and with a review on my all time FAVOURITE foundation.

The Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Foundation.

RRP: £29, shade BD 40
Described as "Yves Saint Laurent adopts a leading edge technology that transposes the magic of this legendary highlighter into a foundation to achieve the same illuminating result for the entire face. Yves Saint Laurent introduces LE TEINT TOUCHE CLAT. A bold, unique formula to target shadowy areas and define contours. Infused within a weightless fluid, the light of Touche clat foundation targets shadowy areas and highlights the contours of the face. Free of opaque powders, its perfecting texture evens the complexion and helps conceal imperfections, while enhancing your skin's natural beauty." (Debenhams website).

It really does all these things.  I feel like whenever i wear this foundation, my face just glows and looks incredibly healthy.

I personally suffer from quite dry skin, so for me, this is perfect. Its moisturising and it doesn't settle in any fine lines in the face. Honestly, since using this foundation, i cannot going back to using any other, which is bad for me because at £29 a pop, it does hurt the bank balance!

Foundation on the far left, as you can see, i like YSL products heehee.

Now down to the nitty gritty:

Coverage:  I feel that this foundation for me personally, gives a light to medium buildable coverage. I have generally clear skin so in terms of coverage, its great for me.  Maybe avoid it if you're looking for something higher coverage, although it is build able. For me, it just looks like my natural skin but much better! i love the natural look it gives.

Skin type: If you have dry skin ladies, this is for you. I have such bad luck with foundations in terms of them making my skin look dry or cakey, but this is just the perfect consistency. However, if you have oily skin, i would avoid this as it may only make you look shiny. It also contains SPF 19 to protect your skin!

Finish: The finish is a radiant and dewy finish. I know some people prefer to be more matte during the winter but i personally love the dewy look all year round. This foundation gives me a healthy glow, even in this harsh Welsh weather.

Colour match: For me, BD 40 'Beige' is THE perfect colour match for my skin.  I would definitely recommend going to a counter and getting colour matched because for £29 a bottle, you don't want to get the wrong colour. My skin is naturally very warm toned, and i find most foundations come up too pink on me, but beige is the perfect warm tone for me.

Pros: Gorgeous, natural finish. Dewy, radiant. Very easy to blend and buildable.
Cons: At £29 a bottle for 30ml, its pretty expensive to continue buying, and its not great for oily skin.

MAC Morange

Hello lovely people!

I've been looking for the perfect orange lipstick for a while now as i think that its such a gorgeous, flattering shade, especially with a tan.

I didn't have much luck with drugstore/high street brands as i could never find the bright shade that i wanted.  Then i saw shaaanxo from youtube wearing Mac Morange in one of her videos and it was gorgeous!

I ordered it from the Mac website, retailing at £14 (pricey i know).  Although i did have some problems with the delivery (i paid extra for saturday delivery and it only just arrived today), i'm in love!

it literally is the most flattering shade for my skin tone + eye colour! I can't wait till i'm back home in dubai next weekend to wear this when i get a tan!

The formula is amplified so the colour is bright and saturated, as well as creamy.  I think it definitely is my new favourite lipstick!

What do you think?  orange lipstick, yes or no?
i personally love them!

The search for the perfect nude! MAC blankety + Velvet teddy

Hello lovely followers!
I've been on the hunt for the perfect nude lipstick now for SO long.  My problem is, i have very pigmented lips (from living in dubai for 23 years, the sun will get ya!) and a very warm complexion.

My skin is very yellow, and due to the pigmented lips, a lot of nudes make me look either sick or dead!

So i scoured the internet for hours, looking for the perfect wearable nude.  It took a while, but i found these two!

Unfortunately, they are MAC lipsticks so they retail at £14 each.  But i had £5 of points to spend (at debenhams) and instead they came to £23!

I know Debenhams is also having 10% off all beauty so currently their lipsticks are £12.60!

I decided on getting two different shades of nude.  Blankety and Velvet teddy (both mac, obviously)

First up: Blankety

Described by MAC as a 'soft pink beige',  it is literally my perfect nude lipstick. The finish of the lipstick is amplified so its quite pigmented, and almost a little drying (but that's because i have dry lips normally). It really is one of those 'your lips, but better' shades.  I'm in love!

Next up: Velvet teddy

This lipstick is a matte lipstick, described as a 'deep tone beige'.  This also is very much like my natural lip colour. The tone is deeper, with more of reddish tone as opposed to a pink tone like blankety. I really love this for more of a classier look :)

Here's swatches of the two :)

How to go from light brown to blonde: Garnier Color Naturals 110 review!

Let me give you a little background into my hair, it was originally a highlighted blonde pictured here: (my face was blurry so i blacked it out, sorry!)

And as usual, i got bored and dyed over it.  This time i decided to dye it a copper brown with ombre blonde tips.  I don't know why i always try and go darker, because i end up missing the blonde and having to go lighter again!
This was the colour of my hair when it was ombre. luckily for me the colour didn't last long thanks to the swedish sun + dandruff shampoo

And it faded to this:

I thought i was going to have to make a trip to the hairdressers and have gradual highlights done again (the slowest, most irritating way to go light without any ginger mishaps), and as i am in Dubai at the moment, i really struggled to find any hair bleach in any of the stores to do it myself. But then i stumbled across this in the super market:  Its called Garnier Color Naturals in 110 Sandy Light Blonde.

Now usually i would avoid blonde box dyes like the plague as they are usually a recipe for a ginger disaster and an expensive trip to the hair dressers, but something drew me in. It states on the box that it will lighten hair 3 to 4 tones lighter, which for me was perfect as i wasn't planning on going too light. This is what is known as an 'extra lightening shade' which can also be found in brands such as l'oreal feria metallic silver blonde
The key is to look for the words 'extra' or 'ultra' lightening. This means that the dye alone will lift your hair colour without needing to bleach (depending on your starting colour). I know clairol do some excellent ones as well! However, this garnier was all i could get my hands on.

I originally planned just to add highlights using a foil technic but ended up just applying it to my whole head as i lacked patience!  my natural root colour is a light ash brown (the mousy brown kind) so i was a little worried that my roots might end up turning orange! I watched the dye carefully for 30 minutes and then rinsed with the conditioner provided in the box.

And here is the result:
A light sandy blonde with remaining highlights!  it looks natural, and i managed to avoid the clown orange tones somehow!
